Valentine’s Day LOVE Smoothie❤
With v-day coming up, I decided to add a pop of colour to mine and hubby’s morning smoothie! (Especially with all this SNOW, some colour can help brighten up our mood🤦♀️)
What gave it this beautiful colour- can you guess the secret ingredient?!
BEETS ! This root vegetable is rich in vitamins and nutrients. Some of its highlighted benefits are as follows:
- high in antioxidants
- high in folic acid
- Anti-inflammatory
- Detoxifying
- Boosts athletic performance
- Lowers blood pressure
PLUS- it is low in sugar! I am trying to keep my morning sugar intake at a minimum to avoid any afternoon crashes and keep my anxiety at bay. So I have been exploring with veggies in my shakes. Stay tuned for more 🙂
Try this recipe out – just in time for V-DAY 🥰 Your partner won’t even notice there are beets in there – let’s keep that part a secret 😉
BEET SMOOTHIE
Prep Time: 5 min, Total Cook Time: 5 min
❤2 large cooked beets (peeled)
❤1 cup of spinach
❤1 cup of blueberries
❤1/2 cup of yogurt
❤2 cups of any nut milk
❤optional – Protien or collagen powder❤2 tbsp chia seeds
❤4 icecubes
**add all ingredients to a high speed blender! If too thick add some water to get desired consistency
**Makes 2 servings
TIP – Boil beets at the start of the week and have ready in the fridge!
